Sayulita fishing report February 2023

When February rolls around here in Sayulita, I always like to look back and see what we’ve done over these last few winter months. December was full of rod-bending action with fantastic weather and we had pretty much the same in January. The pelagic fish definitely have hung around this winter. We had temperatures get down to about 63 degrees early in the morning and then get up to a perfect 76 in the afternoon. I still laugh sometimes driving to work and see all my friends and neighbors in jackets with 63 degrees weather. We’ve been seeing these temperatures for the last couple of weeks and we’ll see him the same in February. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been catching here in Sayulita over these last few winter months and what we can expect to catch in February.mahi-mahi fishing Sayulita

This February we will see some warm fishing, and water (76 degrees) which is why we have held by the mahi- mahi and sailfish here in the area. We’ve had fantastic success with our eight-hour fishing charters offshore. The water has cooled down slightly and that slowed the blue and the black Marlin action, but has brought a tenfold in the striped Marlin. So if you’re coming in February which is a fantastic month to be here for fishing, snorkeling, just getting out and about in the city, whale watching, and sightseeing. This is one of the best months to be here. We’ve been seeing more and more baitfish show up. Like the skipjack tuna, google eye, Spanish mackerel, mahi -mahi, some roosterfish and a few of sailfish.  This means only one thing. Game on the and the fishing will be good to steady action here inshore and offshore.

If you’re coming down and fishing with us in February be sure to make a reservation in advance as we are extremely booked up during these winter months. Many fishermen get tired of shoveling that snow up north and want a break. Everyone’s everyone wants to be here to enjoy this perfect weather and excellent fishing. This is the perfect time to come out with this for some Bay fishing.  The Bay fishing has just been off the charts some days we cannot keep the California Bonita which is fantastic to eat along with those Spanish mackerel off the hook.  It’s been a great winter and we’ll have these same conditions all the way up into March. March we’ll see some more winds but not enough to bother the Bay fishing. If you’re looking for a fun trip for the family the Bay fishing could be exactly what you need for a 4-6 hour trip. Take a look here and you’ll be able to see some of the prices and some of the boats that we offer for Bay fishing.

The offshore fishing is gonna remain the same until the end March. The winds pick up a little bit so we will change tactics just a bit. This will be very similar to the offshore fishing we offer here in Sayulita. As I said, make sure you have plenty of live bait and be rigged up with plenty of black Bart lures. These fishing rigs are some of the best in Mexico.  We’ve been running the black Barts on the short corner and then using some of our Joel Schultz tuna lures for the Marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi. If you’re looking for the fast pace action just take a look at Sayulita fishing on Facebook.  We post pictures there several times a week when time permits. If anybody has any questions before coming down be sure and shoot me an e-mail ( SayulitaFishingCharters@outlook.com ) or just call our toll-free number( 800 4306048 )  I’ll have one of our fishing experts ready to take any calls or any questions about our trips or any other questions that you’re planning here in Sayulita.
